Anchal Shishu Grih

Nivedita Kalyan Samiti founded Anchal Home for Orphans and Needy Children (0-6 years) in 2012. Anchal means to Protective shelter, reliance, concealment the orphans and provide shelter with homely atmosphere. It is established to help provide orphan children with accommodation, education, knowledge under one roof above and beyond the love and affection of the parents, which they lost.
Adoption is our main programme whereby children without a family can get a permanent home for their lifelong future same as biological children do.
But some children have lost this birthright due to the harsh realities of their lives and society. For them adoption is the best option. Towards achieving this goal, the first residential Childrens’ Home, Anchal, was set up in 2012. Through the Centre, we have placed almost 150 children in loving, caring families.
Temporary Shelter this is one of the ongoing activities of Anchal and aims to look after children brought to us by the police or Children Welfare Committee (CWC). These are children who are victims of circumstance with no one to take care of them. Their situations can be the death, imprisonment or illness of a parent or parents, desertion of the child, or even just a lost child found by the police. These children are provided shelter and care at Anchal till they are reunited with their families, as happens generally. In rare cases when the child cannot be restored to their family, the child is declared free for adoption by the CWC after due enquiries.

Old Age Home

At present 95 million people in India are above the age of 60, by the year 2025 nearly 80 million more will be added to this population bracket. With improved life expectancy rate in our country, it’s estimated that as many as 8 million people are currently above the age of 80 years. Changing family value system, economic compulsions of the children, neglect and abuse has caused elders to fall through the net of family care. Homes for the Aged are ideal for elderly people who are alone, face health problems, depression and loneliness.
With the fading of joint family culture in India and several other factors like financial independency of elderly, deteriorating health, lack of companionship, insecurity, children settled abroad etc. senior citizens now prefer to stay in old age home / Geriatric Care center rather than in their own home. It is the safe place for any elderly to live with dignity and self respect, where they can relocate and spend the sunset of their lives without bothering about the day to day chores of life like paying electricity bills, cooking and getting prompt medical care in case of emergencies. Old Age Home is the most viable option among the senior members of society who are financially independent. Nivedita Kalyan Samiti doing this and funded by ministry of social justice & empowerment government of India.

Outreach And Drop In Center (ODIC)

A drop-in center is a service agency for either the mentally ill, homeless people, teenagers, and other communities that offers a place where people can go to obtain food and other services. A mental health drop-in center can provide a friendly environment for people who are struggling with mental health symptoms to recover. Also in another case, a drop-in center as opposed to a homeless shelter usually does not provide a temporary residence; rather, it aims to provide other services to endangered or disadvantaged groups in the community, including the homeless, people with addictions, or teenagers. Drop-in centers are usually open during the daytime. Some regular drop-in centers double as warming centers or cooling centers in the winter or summer, and may provide overnight shelter during these months, with the funded by ministry of social justice & empowerment government of India.
The Outreach Program serves youth ages 10-18 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with comprehensive case management, referrals to local and state agencies, assistance with housing needs and access to shelter, connection to local educational and employment programs and street outreach to connect with youth.
